How Travel Helped Me Become More Confident Than Before

When I finally decided to defeat my fear of talking to people, I had to convince myself that no one can give me a hand in this matter. I would have to aid myself to overcome the inhibitions that leave me speechless every time I tried to indulge into a social gathering. My family had lost faith in me that I would ever be a confident person like my siblings were. Even I would doubt myself if could ever initiate a conversation as my friends do. I had read numerous books and tried to become a person I always wanted to be. However, I could not accomplish my goals, but a day arrived when I decided to use travel to accomplish the feat.

Travel helped me transform my personality in just a few days. It gave me the poise I always saw in other people. Just by handling life on my own for a few days gave me the self-reliance I always needed. Yes, there were times when I would feel anxious on the road since I had taken my first road trip alone, nonetheless I had no other option but to deal with it.

When I was booking Car Rentals in Kolkata, my hometown, I thought of canceling the trip several times, but then I would picture the goals I wanted to achieve. I fancied myself at the places I wanted to see. I recalled the photos of these locations and told myself that I had to get there, no matter what. After rethinking about canceling my plans for at least twenty times, I finally booked the car and packed my bags.

Imagining a better life without anxiety also helped me to stay firm on my decision. Had I canceled my plans, I would have regretted it all through my life. I would have always thought about the life I could have made if I had gone to the hills or the beaches. When I used to think about things I wanted to do on my vacation, it would help me stay firm on taking a road trip. The fear of living with guilt became greater than the fear of talking to people, so I finally ventured on my first solo road trip.

I had also joined a community where I could talk to people like me who also wanted to come out of their present lives. Such communities comprise of people who are in the process of recovery. Whenever I would post something related to my apprehensions, I would get numerous responses to help me get out of them. Moreover, the folks registered on those communities also helped me with a couple of tricks that I could use in public places to be more at peace. At least these communities helped me feel less lonely for a couple of years.

Planning the itinerary and activities was also a major part of the plan. It helped me gain control over most situations, and I could reassure myself that people would not make fun of me. For the first few days of my road trip on Car Rentals Kolkata, I jotted down each and every point where I had to stop, eat, and stay. I also made plans for emergency situations like what I would do if my car broke down, I lost my wallet, or I fell sick. Having emergency numbers written on a piece of paper helped me feel safe during the initial phase of my road trip. However, just a few days on the road all on my own helped me wreck the nervousness I used to feel earlier. I stopped feeling the dire need for a Plan B. It gave me more buoyancy to handle the situations and ask for help from the person close to me rather than the one sitting at home. Feeling poised is the best sentiment I could have in me, and I can never underestimate the importance of it.

Taking a Break from My Job as a Teller in a Bank

Rustle and crunch of money sound like music to many of us, but the responsibility of handling so much of cash in a bank is a different story altogether. I have been working as a Teller in a private bank in Pune for almost two years now. It is quite exhausting to handle such a pressurizing job, especially in India where people are quite touchy about their money. I have to deal with a lot of people in just one day, and most of them are not aware of things happening in the bank. So I have to tell them about various formalities before they proceed to get their job done.

When I began my job of being a Teller, I had thought that I just need to be good at mathematics and it will be an easy ride for me. However, it turned out to be a very stressful, yet pleasant job. The work environment inside the office is quite taxing, but the best part is that I don’t have to go out in the scorching heat or the freezing cold weather. I can comfortably be seated in my ergonomic desk and listen to the queries of the customers.

My job description had clearly stated before I joined that I must possess the attention to detail. Now when it comes practically counting the money, I realize that I have to be super-attentive and know every second whether I just counted a hundred-rupee or a ten-rupee note. I have seen a few Tellers who have to count the bundles of notes several times when the machine is not working, and I cannot ignore that they do not last long in their jobs. With that level of the nerve-wracking environment in the bank, I have to make sure every second that I deliver the best of my potential.

Nevertheless, I get stressed out at times, and I cannot focus on my work. At such circumstances, I realize that I am on the verge of burning out and I need a break really soon. Sometimes, I think about working part-time as well to reduce the workload, but that will not pay my bills. Anyway, when I feel too much burned out, I just call up a few friends and try to convince at least two of them to go for a road trip on Pune car rentals as soon as possible. My friends mock at me when I tell them that I am on the verge of getting exhausted. They have an impression that I have an easy going job where I just have to count currency notes all the time. Nonetheless, they do not know that I have to provide superb customer service as well while handling money. I have to be extremely outgoing and highly organized, which can burn out even the most energetic staff in the bank.

I understand that there is no use explaining all this to my friends, so I just ask them to book car rentals and accompany me for a road trip. Since most of us do not own a car, we prefer taking car rentals Pune so that we do not have conflicts later. Paying for a Service rules out the possibility of accountability and responsibility, and we can focus only on enjoying the vacation. We have taken several vacations just like that when my friends or I feel like escaping the hustle bustle of the city life. We are lucky to be in Pune as we have several options to go for a weekend getaway. Having said that, I do want to mention that even a demanding job can provide professional satisfaction when there is a proper work-life balance.

How I Caught the Trek Fever and Got over It

Trek fever is something new for those who have not taken many treks, but those who have scaled several peaks know about it for sure. When I started trekking in 2014, I would go for a vacation in every 2-4 months and take a strenuous trek. However, I would fall sick after a day or two whenever I returned home. I used to regard that fever as a regular thing since my body needed rest after so many days of strenuous trekking. However, little did I have the information that it was Trek Fever. I realized that I got this fever because of the difficult things I had to undergo during the trek.

The reason for falling sick

I live in Pune and needless to say that I enjoy the typical urban life of an upper middle-class person. I do spend some time walking here and there, but this much of workout is too less to take a trek. When I go for trekking, I have to fight with unfamiliar terrains, high altitude, and severe temperatures; and all these elements keep varying with time. After spending so many days with the same alien regime, I fathomed that my body uses up almost all its energy to keep me going. This rigorous system is tough for my body as well, which makes it fall sick when it cannot tolerate anymore.

When I return from the purity of mountains back to Pune, I have to face the pollution, viruses, and bacteria everywhere. But natural I fall sick since my immune system is at its weakest after the trek ends. Although I am lucky that I have escaped many times with just regular fever, my friends have even fallen prey to jaundice and typhoid. There is nothing to worry about a little fever after a few months, but no one likes to have their body weak and frail, even if it is for a few days. Moreover, the sickness also eats up the leaves of job persons, which are already too precious for the upcoming treks.

How I got rid of trek fever forever

I never used to be an early bird in Pune, but just one trek to Bhrigu Lake made me so. I would wake up early in the morning and roam around the place just to inhale the aroma of the hills. And I used this habit of getting up early to maintain fitness. Just a few days of this regime made me so dedicated to keeping fit that I would have my body’s battery already charged up before I would begin my trek. Therefore, now I am able to maintain a consistent immunity for my body and I rarely fall sick.

Avoiding junk food

When I am out of the city, it becomes even harder to avoid junk food than it is in Pune. At least, I can cook my own meals in Pune, but not everywhere on the hills. Nevertheless, I make sure that I rent cars in Pune to cover my journey on the road because the Car Rentals Pune let me stock up lots of fresh food. I can never carry a huge bag full of fruits, vegetable, and juices in my bag, but I can do so in a car for sure. Moreover, when I have to eat at the restaurants and dhabas, I stick to basic food like roti, rice, curd, or daal.

Avoid sweating for a few days after the trek

The first thing on my mind after I complete any trek is to take rest and avoid sweating to keep away from bacteria and viruses. When I feel energetic again, I resume the regular activities with my folks in Pune.
